At downtown waiting for the train to Richmond to attend a New Years Party.

It was 5 minutes until count down when we were told the trains were having “technical difficulties”. 

So we waited outside of the Canada Line. 

You went in a corner, since we couldn’t find any open public washroom. Waited. 

I could see a group of people passing a joint in a hidden area by the building. 

And many others gathering in front of the Winners widescreen. 

You came back. Walked towards the screen. Pulled me back towards the skytrain again.

I thought we were going to wait for the trains to run again but.. Stopped..

In the middle of Granville and Robson. Count down was in session.

THREE- TWO- ONE.. “Will you be my girlfriend?” 

Tears bawled down my face, thinking this couldn’t be true.

But it was. Real. So real. 

How I managed to wait this long to hear such a question. 

Took me a while to realize you were still waiting for an answer.

“You don’t have to if you don’t want to” 

And I stood there in embarrassment, “No, I do, I want to be”..

Don’t know why I was still crying for so long. But I was happy. 

Started my New Year with you.
